Implant Crowns

A dental implant is a metal device that is surgically placed in the jawbone that acts as the tooth's root and is designed to replace a missing tooth or teeth. The dental implant is usually made out of titanium and unlike a dental bridge, an implant is permanent and can anchor an artificial tooth or teeth such as a crown, bridge or denture.

Dental crowns are typically made of porcelain and cover the entire tooth structure and are needed for various reasons such as when your tooth has a very large filling that exceeds the natural tooth structure, your tooth had a root canal, a fracture or for cosmetic reasons to name a few. A crown repairs an individual tooth and is custom made by taking impressions and are matched to the shade of your surrounding teeth. A well designed crown will look completely natural and will help restore strength and function. Your Dentist will discuss what option is best for your dental needs.

Composite Fillings

Composite fillings are very popular and most used dental filling material. Composite fillings are made of a resin/plastic material that can be matched to the surrounding tooth structure to achieve a natural appearance .  The procedure to apply the composite material allows for less removal of the natural tooth structure and results in fillings that look and feel natural.

Family & Cosmetic Dentistry

Preventative Care

Good dental health starts with regular preventative care. You should schedule your regular dental exam and cleaning every six months, or more frequently as determined by your dentist. With regular dental cleanings, exam, and x-rays as needed it enables your dentist to detect dental problems at their early stages. Your Dentist will do a thorough exam as well as an oral cancer screening at each visit to help you maintain excellent dental health.

Periodontics (Gum Disease)

Gingivitis is the earliest stage of gum disease that can be recognized by swollen red gums that bleed when brushing or flossing. If gingivitis is left untreated it will result in Periodontitis which is the serious and advanced stage of gum disease which includes bone loss.  The gum tissue and bone that surround and support your teeth could become seriously damaged and the teeth affected could become loose and fall out. Periodontitis has also been linked to serious health problems such as an increased risk of stroke and heart attacks. Our Doctors will evaluate your condition and put you on a treatment schedule to help treat your periodontal needs. In cases where the disease is in the advanced stages you may need to be referred to a Periodontist, a Dentist who specializes in periodontal disease.

Oral Sedation

Dr. Erickson have undergone advanced training in Oral Sedation, a treatment option to help ease or completely eliminate dental anxiety. The Dentist will discuss your concerns, your medical history and medications that you currently take and determine if Oral Sedation is an option for you. If it is determined that Oral Sedation is a good option for you, your Dentist will write you a prescription that you will pick up at your local pharmacy with instruction on when and how to take it. You WILL need someone to drive you to and from your dental appointment. Oral Sedation is a safe option for you if your dental anxiety is keeping you from the dental treatment you need. Call today to schedule an appointment to talk about Oral Sedation.

Root Canal

Our teeth contain canals, 1-4 canals depending on the tooth.  At the center of each canal is the pulp, commonly called the nerve. When the pulp becomes infected or damaged it can cause pain, swelling and abscess(infection).  Your Dentist will create a tiny hole in the crown of the tooth and will remove all the damaged pulp and will seal the canal with a permanent dental material, followed by an artificial crown to restore the tooth's strength and structure.

Saving your natural teeth is always the best choice, but if the tooth is too damaged to repair or there is an issue of over crowding, wisdom teeth or spacing for orthodontic treatment then an extraction may be your only option. At Matthews Dental Group our Dentists are highly trained in all types of tooth extractions and in various procedures such as Oral Sedation if needed to make the procedure as comfortable as possible.

Custom Partials & Dentures

When your dental needs are that of a partial that replaces some missing teeth or a full denture that replaces all of your teeth, the Dentist and Matthews Dental Group can make you a custom appliance that will make you happy to smile.

A veneer is constructed of a thin porcelain or composite material. They are custom made and cemented to the front side of the your tooth. A veneer can be used to treat slightly crooked tooth, discolored teeth, chipped teeth or to cover spaces in between the teeth.A veneer can be made by the dentist or in a dental laboratory. Veneers come in a variety of shades.

A bridge is a porcelain tooth used to replace a missing tooth and is usually supported by the adjacent teeth. If the space from a missing tooth is left open it can result in further dental problems such as shifting teeth which could result in problems with the jaw or many other dental problems.
